'The Napoleonic Wars - A Very Short Introduction.'

by Mike Rapport

Oxford

This book serves as an introduction to the Napoleonic wars and is around 130 pages with many different topics covered. As a book it definitely serves its purpose, since it draws one into the study of the Napoleonic wars and provides the most important core information about certain topics related to the Napoleonic wars, such as, manpower (recruitment etc.). The book also provides a very interesting conclusion about the French wars with some points on the legacy which are sometimes overlooked, like the effects on British imperial power, the independence of Haiti or the destruction of the 1000 year old Holy Roman Empire. Another fun fact in the book is that during the French wars Napoleon sold the state of Louisiana to the United States!
